I’m sorry for my 7-month hiatus. I have missed writing, but up until Friday, June 26th, I have been focusing every waking moment on preparing for, studying, and going through a police academy, fulfilling my mommy duties, and squeezing in little moments of self-care to keep myself from losing my mind. Now that the academy is over, I have an abundance of time on my hands. I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be able to resume my dreams and planning for business and personal growth.
Part of my personal growth (and business planning) has developed something that has been on my mind throughout the academy: and that is how my handle here does not accurately portray the audience and the message that even I have been looking for. It has helped me develop my blogging skills and lay a foundation for moving forward, but its purpose has come to an end.
From here on out you will not find any activity on this blog. Instead you can find me at Bubbles, Baking, and a Badge. Each part of the title pertains to a part of my life that I know also affects others. Bubbles represents my life as a single parent. Baking is that aspect of my business and the tips and tricks of baking. Badge stands for my primary career of law enforcement.
Bubbles
There are a ton of blogs on parenting, mothering, and even single parenting. I certainly don’t intend to compete with them. I do want to come alongside them and learn from them. It will also hopefully add to their bits of wisdom. And truthfully, I honestly don’t think you can have too many voices out there breathing life and hope into what has for centuries been deemed a dark, lost, and hopeless journey (and still looked down on today): that of single motherhood. All posts regarding motherhood/parenting will be found under Bubbles.
Baking
Part of my journey to provide for my child and our future includes an entrepreneurial outlet with a favorite pastime: baking. This business started before the academy. I had to put it on hold as the cadets were not allowed to hold any secondary jobs or make money by other means while going through the academy. In hindsight, I can understand the reasons for the stipulations; I couldn’t imagine being able to do both at the same time now looking back. But now that it is over, I’m excited to get back into the swing of business. I’ve already begun developing products to complement the breads I was most successful with prior to the hiatus. I will also be blogging about the tips and tricks along the way under the Baking tab.
A Badge
Part of the missing piece of my current blog is connected to my newly established career and the small sector of that profession that I make up., a female, make up. I have been searching for podcasts with female police officers but have only found a handful of episodes dedicated to the role of female police officers (hosted and produced by the male police officers that dominate the profession). And searching for blogs by women has turned up blogs that have been deleted by the authors or have no evidence of recent activity. I know that I cannot be the only one of my kind looking for content geared solely for female police officers, so why is there nothing out there for us? You may now be asking the question, “Will you be creating a podcast for female police officers?” Well, that’s not out of the question for the future. For now, it’s not on the table. You’ll simply find my posts on policing as a woman under the Badge tab.
That being said, the blog will not be up and running for a little while. Follow me on Instagram at bubblesbakingandabadge to know when it is live.
