As I have previously stated, I strongly recommend you be reading. That is exactly what I have been doing here lately. I just recently picked up a book, The Kickass Single Mom by Emma Johnson, and there is a section at the end of the chapters which encourages us to perform an exercise in our efforts to be the successful, goal reaching, single moms that we want to be. The first chapter encourages us to create a video recording of what our goals and dreams are, but I’m rather awkward on videos. So I’ve decided to write a picture of what my dreams and goals are here instead. In addition, I will be sharing pictures to go along with it, as if I am building a picture board on the web.

I imagine…
I imagine a life debt free with a fully funded emergency fund. This will be accomplished by working full time as a police officer or sheriff’s deputy, blogging, and my bakery business, Donard’s Delights, and the occasional “extra job” available to me as a licensed peace officer.

I imagine adopting 2 or 3 children to join our family. I will home school my children on my days off and give them writing or book work to be done while I am at work. We will go on 2 camping trips a year. Our adventures will also include overseas every other year with the in between years being overseas trips for myself. In the years I take the solo overseas trips, I will take them on a lengthier trip in the United States.

Home Front Dreams
I will purchase 10 acres of land where I will build a home with a large living space, large kitchen, and 2 master suites separate from each other. One master suite will have a guest bedroom on top of it and will be separated from the main house for my mother and youngest brother and will include a small kitchenette/coffee bar and a covered porch.

My portion of the house will have the master suite plus 2 or 3 more bedrooms, the large living space, large kitchen, an office/workout room, 2 full baths and 1 half bath. It will also have a separate large room, possibly upstairs, which will be utilized as a children’s game and activity room.
The house will have a large porch that will pan much of the house. There will be a door out onto it specifically from my master suite. My master suite will include a small sitting room in which I can read in a comfortable sitting and be able to view the outdoors as well.

The house will be decorated and designed as a rustic farmhouse with modern amenities, including the water spout over the stove to make it easy to fill pots on the stove. That being said, the stove and spout will be on the island of the kitchen so that people cooking for the holidays or family gatherings can see and visit with those in the living space. It also makes it more easy to see the football game or any shows they are watching.

Takeaway and Final Thoughts
Write out your dreams, goals, and hopes. Describe them in detail. Another thing that has come to mind as I was writing this is that the structure of this blog isn’t what I want to devote my time and efforts to. I still want to blog, don’t get me wrong, and I still want to empower single moms to take charge of their lives and to thrive, but the direction I want to go with my blog incorporates more analytical, philosophical, and introspective topics, more personal growth topics, and more reflective ideas related to personal growth and empowerment, mental health, trauma, and the criminal justice field, and how single mom led homes are impacted. The title of this blog cannot encompass that kind of a blog. So over the next couple of weeks I will be hashing out just what that blog will look like.
I will continue to post here and there as my life goes on, but it will likely be few and far between. I hope you will follow me over when I get my new blog up and running as I strongly believe that those topics are extremely important for everyone to focus on and to develop in their own lives. There are a wealth of blogs out there for moms and mom-life-hacks. I’m more passionate about the individual growth aspect than I am about mom-life-hacks, so I will point you to the other blogs as I create my own personal niche.
